RGUHS BSc Nursing exam pattern and blueprint
RGUHS publishes a blueprint (the "design of question paper") for every BSc Nursing paper. It fixes how the marks are split across units and across four question types: long essays, short essays, short answers and multiple choice questions (MCQs). Papers that share a QP pair, such as Applied Anatomy and Applied Physiology, are written together in one three-hour sitting, as Section A and Section B.

How to use the blueprint
- Units: the blueprint gives each unit marks in proportion to its teaching hours, so the longest units carry the most marks. Prepare those fully.
- Long essays (10 or 15 marks): practise writing them in full, with headings and a diagram where it helps.
- Short essays (5 marks) and short answers (2 marks): work through the previous year questions for each unit and start with the ones asked most often.
- MCQs (1 mark): they can come from any unit, so revise all of them.
Every question in Question Bank Pro is tagged with its type and marks, so you can practise only long essays, or only 2-mark short answers, unit by unit.
RGUHS BSc Nursing 1st year, 2nd year or semester?
RGUHS used to set BSc Nursing papers year-wise: 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year. Under the Indian Nursing Council's revised curriculum the course now runs in 8 semesters, two in each year. Students still search for "RGUHS 1st year BSc Nursing question papers", so here is how the years map to semesters. Older year-wise papers are kept under the semester subject they belong to now: a 1st year Anatomy question from an old paper sits under 1st semester Applied Anatomy.
| Year | Semesters | Subjects |
|---|---|---|
| 1st year | Semesters 1 and 2 | Applied Anatomy, Applied Physiology, Applied Psychology, Applied Sociology, Communicative English, Nursing Foundation I, Applied Biochemistry, Applied Nutrition and Dietetics, Health/Nursing Informatics and Technology and Nursing Foundation II |
| 2nd year | Semesters 3 and 4 | Adult Health Nursing I, Applied Microbiology and Infection Control, Pathology I, Pharmacology I, Adult Health Nursing II, Pathology II and Genetics, Pharmacology II and Professionalism, Professional Values and Ethics |
| 3rd year | Semesters 5 and 6 | Child Health Nursing I, Community Health Nursing I, Educational Technology/Nursing Education, Introduction to Forensic Nursing and Indian Laws, Mental Health Nursing I, Child Health Nursing II, Mental Health Nursing II, Midwifery/Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG) Nursing I and Nursing Management and Leadership |
| 4th year | Semesters 7 and 8 | Community Health Nursing II, Midwifery/Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG) Nursing II, Nursing Research and Statistics, ACLS, Internship / Intensive Practicum / Residency Posting, Job Readiness in Health Care, Lactation Management, Scientific Writing Skills, Sexuality and Health, Soft Skills and Stress Management |
RGUHS BSc Nursing question papers PDF
Many sites share RGUHS question papers as scanned PDFs. A PDF gives you the questions only: no answers, no way to see which questions repeat, and often hard to read on a phone. Question Bank Pro has the same RGUHS papers typed, solved and searchable, with filters for subject, unit, question type, marks and year. It runs in your phone's browser, so there is no PDF to download.
Do RGUHS BSc Nursing questions repeat?
Yes. About 19% of the questions in RGUHS BSc Nursing papers since 2006 have been asked more than once, and in some subjects the share is much higher. The subjects that repeat the most: Mental Health Nursing I (34%), Pharmacology II (33%) and Pharmacology I (30%). That is why the bank shows, for every question, how many times and in which years it was asked.
RGUHS syllabus, time table and results
The official RGUHS BSc Nursing syllabus, exam time table, exam dates and results are published by the university on rguhs.ac.in. The syllabus units listed on this page follow the semester syllabus that the bank is organised by.

How to use RGUHS previous year question papers to prepare
RGUHS papers repeat. In the bank, many short-answer topics have been asked ten times or more since 2006: essential amino acids and cataract 16 times each, Candida albicans 14 times. Studying past questions first is the fastest way to cover what the university actually asks.
The bank follows the semester pattern, so each semester has its own subjects: Applied Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology and Sociology in the 1st semester, through Community Health Nursing II, OBG Nursing II and Nursing Research in the 7th. The 8th semester is the internship year, with model answers for its practicum subjects.
RGUHS BSc Nursing important questions
Every subject has a ranked list of important questions. Use it in the last two weeks before the exam: it is the shortest path through a big syllabus.
Writing answers that score
- Short notes (2 to 5 marks): a one-line definition, then 4 to 6 clear points.
- Long essays (10 marks and more): introduction, headings, a diagram or table where it helps, and a short conclusion.
- Viva: say the definition first, then the nursing role. The viva exams in the bank train exactly this.
Question Bank Pro puts all of this in one place on your phone: previous years with how often each was asked, model answers, important questions, timed mock and viva exams, mnemonics and Exam SOS cards for the night before.
